Steve West has been the East Howellsville Fire Department Fire Chief since 1987. Steve joined the fire service in 1980. Steve is an Qualified Fire and Rescue Commission Instructor. He is also a certified Live Burn Instructor in LP and Structural Firefighting and Hazardous Materials. He teaches emergency driver operator training. He is a certified fire investigator and serves as a member of the department's fire investigative team. Steve is also a Level II certified fire fighter. Steve is one of the departments First Responders. Steve has completed the North Carolina Fire Officer Level I course. He has a two year degree in fire science and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Leadership and Administration course from September 2009.

701 TERRY W. PARKER

Terry W. Parker serves the fire department as one of the deputy chiefs. He is a Qualified Instructor with the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission. He is also a instructor with the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training Standards and is a General Instructor and Hazmat & Explosives Instructor. He is also an Sheriff's Standards Instructor with North Carolina and teaches Fire Emergencies. He is an advanced criminal investigator with special training in fire investigations. Terry is the team leader for the departments fire investigation team. He is also a certified Level II fire fighter. As Deputy Chief his duties include suppression, and aerial officer. Terry is the Vice President of the Board of Directors. Terry is one of the departments First Responders. Terry has completed the North Carolina Fire Officer Level I course. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy Leadership and Administration Course from September 2009.

702 JEROME KINLAW

Jerome Kinlaw joined the fire department in 1972. Jerome is one of the department's Deputy Chief's. He is a Certified level II fire fighter as well as a General Instructor. Jerome serves as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors.

703 JEANIE D. WEST

Jeanie D. West is a North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission Qualified Instructor. She is also an Certified Level II fire fighter. Jeanie serves as a member of the departments fire investigative team. Jeanie is the President of the Board of Directors. Jeanie has fourteen years with the fire department. Jeanie also serves as the department's training officer. Jeanie is one of the departments First Responders. Jeanie has completed the North Carolina Fire officer Level I course.

704 CRAIG PREVATTE

Craig Prevatte is an Assistant Chief with the fire department. Craig has 15 years with the fire department. Craig is a Certified Level II fire fighter. Certified in service testing of fire apparatus. Craig serves as the communications officer for the department and department safety officer. Craig is also a member at large on the Board of Directors. He is one of the departments First Responders. Craig has completed the North Carolina Fire Officer Level I course. He is a member of the Department's Fire Investigative Team. Craig works as a service tech at Image Supply. Craig is one of the departments designated driver operators and supervises these personnel for their coordinated training. Craig is a Level I Instructor.

705 BILLY HERRING

Billy Herring is the Captain of the Fire Department. As Captain his responsibilities are for all the EMS, which covers reports, supplies and training. Billy currently has finished all the fire fighter Level II courses. Billy has been with the department for 13 years but has a total of 16 years of fire service. Billy is a member of the department's Fire Investigative Team. He has completed the North Carolina Fire Officer I course. Billy is one of the departments first responders. He is also a Member at Large on the department's Board of Directors. Billy is a Level I Instructor.

707 JERRY OXENDINE JR.

Jerry Oxendine Jr. is a certified Level II fire fighter. Jerry joined the fire department in August 2008. Jerry serves on the department's fire investigative team. Jerry is also certified in P.P.E.. Jerry serves as a Lieutenant on the fire department and is responsible for the building and grounds as well as S.C.B.A.'s. Jerry graduated from the National Fire Academy Leadership and Administration Course in September 2009. Jerry is currently planning on attending another National Fire Academy Course in February 2010. He is a Level I Instructor.

750 JAMES EDWARDS

James has been with the department now since about 2006. He came to our department from a fire department across the state. James has taken a number of NC Fire Certification courses and is currently enrolled in a NC EMT class. James is one of our designated Driver Operators.

751 JOSEPH ATKINSON

Joseph Atkinson joined the fire department the second time in May 2009. He has approximately 2 years prior service with the department. He has his Haz-mat awareness and operations level certification and is working on his Fire fighter certification. Joseph is a eagle boy scout. He plans a career in Forestry and emergency services. Joseph is one of the departments probationary firemen at this time.

752 SCOTT ELLIS

Scott Ellis is a certified Level II fire fighter. Scott is a North Carolina first responder and is working on his North Carolina EMT. Scott transferred to our department in January 2009 from an neighboring fire department. Scott has completed the Fire Service Instructor course. Scott is constantly working on furthering his education.

753 WILLIAM BRYAN

William Bryan is a certified Level II fire fighter. William is also a North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission Qualified instructor. William has been with the fire department for 20 years and once served on the board of directors in many capacities. William was one of the department's deputy chiefs for many years. William is one of the department EMT's and serves as one of the department's first responders. William holds many certifications.

754 TREY IVEY

Trey Ivey is one of our fire fighters and has finished the fire fighter academy except for a couple of classes. Trey is a North Carolina Certified E.M.T. Trey currently works full time for AMR.

756 JAY WHITE

Jay White is a Level II certified fire fighter and is also a Qualified Level II Instructor certified by the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission. Jay is also an instructor of Hazardous Materials. Jay has served with several fire departments and served over 20 years with Northwoods Fire Department. Jay transferred to our department approximately one year ago.

758 JOHN SIMMONS JR.

John Simmons is one of the department's probationary fire fighters. John is also one of the fire department's designated driver operators. John has been working on some of his fire fighter certification classes while he has been on probation. John is one of our designated Driver Operators and is currently working on his training for this position.

759 ASHLEY DAVIS

Ashley Davis is one of the department's fire fighters. Ashley is currently working on her firefighter I & II certifications. Ashley also has an interest in the medical field. She has been a member of the department now for three years.

764 TOMMY WOODMAN

Tommy Woodman is one of the department's certified level two fire fighters. Tommy has been a member of the fire department for over 20 years. During his career with this department Tommy has served as the safety officer for many years. Tommy is also a general fire instructor. Tommy was a NC EMT at one time but currently holds the certification of NC First Responder.

769 TRACY MCKINLEY

Tracy McKinley joined our department in 2007 and has been working on his NC Fire Fighter Certifications. Tracy has recently shown an interest in becoming one of our Fire Responders and is planning on attending the next class offered by our department.

782 ROSE HERRING

Rose Herring joined the fire department in June 2006. Rose is the Publicity Chairman for the department which is a member of the board of directors. Rose is one of the department's fire responders. Rose is a Certified Level II fire fighter. Rose is one of the department's driver operators.

783 JAN PARKER

Jan Parker joined the fire department in the Spring 2005. Since then Jan has been working on her fire fighter certification and lacks one class of having all of her 1403 classes and has most of her level one classes. Jan is a North Carolina first Responder and is one of the departments responders. Jan is one of the departments designated driver operators.

787 TERRY SIMMONS

Terry Simmons is one of the fire department's fire fighters. He is also one of the fire department's probationary firemen. Terry is working on his fire fighters I & II fire fighter certifications.

790 DERICK CHAVIS

Derick Chavis is one of the department's fire fighters. Derick has only been with the East Howellsville Fire Department since spring 2009 but came from the Saddletree fire department where he served as an officer at one time. Derick is currently working on his fire fighter certification.

The "FIT" consist of seven individuals of the East Howellsville Fire Department who have stepped forward and made the decision to dedicate part of their time and training to the investigation of fires.

These individuals obtain at least 12 additional hours of fire origin and cause determination yearly in addition to their regular training and the team consist of persons who are Certified Fire Investigators or are pursuing their CFI.
