Up Coming Training
There will be a live hands on R.I.T. training class conducted with all three Battalions shifts of the Lumberton Fire Department. This training will assist both department will learning R.I.T. operations as well as building a training base for incidents where both departments may respond to one major incident. These training sessions will be held at Lumberton Fire Department Central Fire Station Dates are T.B.A.
North Carolina State training weekend at the National Fire Academy will be November 19,20 & 21st 2010. The East Howellsville Fire Department encourages all fire departments and fire fighters to attend.
The East Howellsville Fire Department's FIT will be participating in a Wildland fire investigations class for the entire team during the month of July 2010.

The Bill Bryan Training Award
Those of you that knew Mr. Bill knew that he stressed training "The more you train the better you are at your job" I have heard him say this many times. Bill was an instructor and loved to teach fire classes, I decided to make a tribute to Bill by offering the "Bill Bryan Training Award". This award is given to the firefighter with the most certified fire training hours received in a given time. The time period starts January 1st of each year and ends October 15th of each year. The firefighter with the most certified fire training hours within this time will receive the award.

THE TRAINING CLASS
IT WAS ONLY ONE CLASS. CHIEF DON'T HAVE A HEART ATTACK. SO, I MISSED THE LADDERS CLASS, DON'T WORRY I'LL GET IT BACK. IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. SO I MISSED THE HYDRANT SESSION, I CAN STILL HIT THE PLUG. CHIEF, LET ME RIDE THE ENGINE. IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. SO I CAN'T DRAFT FROM A LAKE. I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED, ABOUT THAT CLASS YOU TOLD ME TO TAKE. IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. CHIEF IT WAS ONLY SCBA. HOW HARD COULD IT BE TO THROW ON AN AIRPACK AND TURN ON A COUPLE AIRWAYS. IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. I MUST ASK "HOW HARD CAN IT BE ?" TO FIGHT A BLAZING FIRE OR SAVE A KITTEN FROM A TREE. IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. I'M SORRY I HAD A DATE. HOW WOULD I HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS HORROR AND THIS FATE. IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. CHIEF, IT IS ALL MY FAULT. I SHOULD HAVE GOT THE WATER FASTER, TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. I'M SORRY THEY HAD TO WAIT. BY THE TIME I TURNED ON THE AIRPACK IT WAS TO LATE. IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG? OH THAT LITTLE BOY AND GIRL. WHAT DID I DO WRONG? IT WAS ONLY ONE TRAINING CLASS. BUT CHIEF, IT IS BECAUSE OF ME . THAT THE BABY BOY AND GIRL WON'T LIVE TO BE THREE.
